Hello world..

So my blogs are terribly spread out. I’m terrible at blogging but I am a pretty good writer. But I don’t always make since …So here it goes… post #4
I realize that Zappy Springs is more than just a business or so called business since everything I do is backwards. But Zappy Springs has become more like an extended family member to my personal life. Zappy Springs has hit 1,000 plus visitors in 7 months. Zappy came about on mother’s day of this year!! Crazy 7 months, 1,000 plus visitors, I have learned a great deal, and I have failed terribly and but I’m fearless and so eager to learn and explore all options put in front of me!

The Zappy Booth By Zappy Springs

The photo I posted is an event I did for Oh Snap. This was for a good cause to help bring in funds for a scholarship at Texas State. I hope they were able to raise enough money, these where a great group of people putting this event on!! But this was probably the most organized event I have ever been a part of! We needed electricity for one of my lights and one of the volunteers who helped us didn’t think twice to do what he could to help us out! Awesome huh?

(PS: The Zappy Booth photo is a picture of my daughter and her 1 hour friend she met) Lots more on our website – http://zappysprings.com/ohsnap2010

This was just one of many events zappy has been a part of! Right now Zappy is doing family photo shoots which I used my home school network to get business and Woo Hoo I got 15 shoots booked!!

Home school

If you didn’t know I home school my son. Off the beaten path of just writing about Zappy’s accomplishments home schooling my son is another one!
I think honestly I lost faith in the western educational system, our government, and health care… after some deep emotional thought I pulled my son off the grid and decided to homeschool. Yes, I admit it’s tremendously hard and sometimes I wonder if I’m doing the right thing. But on several occasions I ask my son do you wanna go back to school?
He says No!!! I like homeschooling, nobody bullies me, and we get to do so much more then what I do in school. This is the mind of a 8yr old, who is quite the character with not a lot of common since but more book smart, and super analytical—We make a good match I’m the dreamer and he keeps me on track!

Whoever is reading this my ADD is kicking in at high gear and I’m sure I’m all over the place by now, but I guess that’s what makes this an interesting piece..
It’s been a while since I’ve blogged and a lot has happened since I last wrote. Christmas is upon us and I’ve been doing some major soul and mind searching.
We are looking to purchase our first home (scary) since I’m commitment phobia and my son has been home schooling since August, and my toddler is growing up every second. But what has been drifting through my mind was starting a nonprofit. I leave this summer to do my first bio and documentary on orphans in South America. Also I hope to end my trip with more inspiriting knowledge and to write a book… I better get an editor!

I’ve collected random educational tools, baby diapers, first aid items and American magazines. I’m hoping to do a trade and with that trade they would allow me to interview and do some video. Yes, again I’m fearless, but I really want to make this a reality. I think I have always had this dreamer/realist mentality and somehow I intertwine them into one. But it doesn’t help that I’m a bit of a space cadet with ADD. I blame everything on my ADD.. It really does get the best of me sometimes.

But back to my documentary/bio idea I’m really hopping to come back to write a book on my experience with one GOAL in mind to inspire and move my readers. I have been driven by some amazing people, amazing literature and art, and free thinkers.

I’ve spent my whole life never really fitting in, but I have found complete solitude in passion, think outside the box thinkers, and people who push for greatness despite huge stepping stones. I myself am very much like this and it’s hard to find a fine line to feel somewhat normal in this society.

So there you have it..

Now whoever is reading this you know a little more about me and what zappy is up to!! I begin to think if I blogged more often my blogs would be more consistent and have a better flow. But again I guess I’m just me,.. Live for the moment and tonight was the night!! I blogged away making as much since as I could..

Stay Tune world
Hugs Zappy Springs!

So before I even begin I have come to a conclusion that I’m just terrible at blogging.

So Hello Universe,

So here I was racing to take my son to improv classes at the hide out. It was raining and I had this bright idea to take the biggest umbrella with me so I could keep everyone under cover.. Well huh who cares if the wind is blowing 90 miles an hour and your umbrella flips over..

We enter the hide out like wet stray animals, and run up to meet Miss Jessica. She was a silly lady and unique in her own hippy way! Tasi and I waited around for a bit before heading downstairs. Juneau was bouncing around and totally getting psyched about his new class!!! Ok 10 minute rule and I’m leaving him on his own… “Bye Juneau see you in 30 minutes”.

Tasi my 2 yr old and I went down stairs. Those Torchy’s Taco’s were calling my name!! So here I was sitting and people watching, sipping a yummy latte with soy milk and munching on the best migas taco. Tasi was in toddler heaven too..”mommy yummy taco”..

I’m in a some what deep thought, checking my emails, writing some business ideas, brain storming and then all of a sudden I realize my daughter has made a friend with this cute little ole man. He turned out to be the maintenance man for the hide out.

Well let me just say these two hit it off like two toddlers on a play ground. Well he had my daughter hooked when he opened a tin can full of tiny clay characters he had made. They looked like hobbits with spring necks and missing body parts but they had super cute faces. He had a kind soul, and totally animated. Lets say his company just totally made my day!! Rain and all..

Me and Mr. Maintenance man had a long conversation on clay and his grandson, and his vision of stop animation. Which is why I figured his little characters had detachable body parts

So while talking away, It dawned on me huh I should try to make my own clay beads..

Here comes Juneau jumping around like a crazy man.. I guess his improv classes are over.. Looks like this class is a winner!

Out to the rainy streets of congress….

So There my third entry and maybe I will get more of a mind set to blog more often???????? I have to say it’s very odd writing to know one..It’s like singing in a crowed area and pretending your alone…Strange but mentally interesting..

My Picture I posted is me making my first clay beads and they are strung on wire waiting to dry.. PS I pulled the wire to hard and they fell off… so I could’nt use the green ones

So here I sit pondering so many thoughts to a world that surrounds me. My thoughts are just intimate pieces of who I am.

I’ve always been a free spirit and think out the box kinda girl so finding a perfect spot in this world is always a bit tricky. I’ve spent some time looking for somthing to call my own but nothing quit fit.. Well in a little package came a baby. My little Juneau came in 2002. What a secret surprise and finally something to call mine!

Yet, was it enough? I was still so shy and still had this radiant free spirit personality that seemed to set me apart. Months came around and the more attached I became with my son the more he helped me let go and just be me. To grow, to empower, to fail, and follow a path of forgiving happiness and run with wild ideas, to except failure and to know with failure comes a new path of passion. Thank you, Juneau. Could I ever imagine that just a baby could teach me so much about life?

Then in 2008, I started catering. And well let’s just say it didn’t go so well. Yet, I won’t lie I’m an amazing little chef!!! Then I tried a meet up and nobody joined. My son entered Barton Hills Elementary and that ended terrible. Then we sent him off to private school and that was amazing but so expensive. Finally now 2010 we are trying home school. We love it!!!

Back in 2008 I also had my second child, Tasi. She is my soul. Tasi is Polynesian for love of water, goddess of the ocean. She lives up to her name! She is beautiful, strong, and so much like her mother, ME!!!

Finally last but not least my world, Rob. I could write a novel on this one, but a simple phrase will do. He’s my best friend and I wish I had met him so much earlier in my life.

So why Zappy Springs? I searched and tried, so many things, and nothing quite fit. I don’t believe in day care. So I wanted something to call my own but I still wanted family. No separation, no feeling of doubt.
Yes, start my own thing. No boss, no day care, no doubt. So now you have the one and only….. Drum Roll…

Zappy Springs!!!!

I’m a free lance photographer, story book designer, year book designer, and a mom. I have to say it’s so empowering to know your decisions are ones you call your own. You fail, you succeed, you cry, you make tons of mistakes. Yet, in the end it’s your call. If anything I’m learning it’s just to be me!! My D90 Nikon is an amazing gadget and everyday I’m learning so much, but I won’t lie it’s tricky as
heck, if not just plain complicating. But I love my freedom…..

So now you have it universe, as to ever reads this!!!

Springs Springs Baby, a journey of learning, freedom, empowerment.

A quote I live by: “Take a risk everyday, even if you think you may fail”

There my second entry, oh and the photo I posted is my 5 month excursion to South America with my 4 yr old son. He is sitting up front right next to the bus driver as we traveled across Argentina.

Welcome Universe!!!

My first post on zappy springs blog!! My mind drew a blank

Well to start off thanks for coming to my site and checking out my portfolio. I have loved taking pictures since I was super young. I recall my first slide show camera the “Micky” version and I can still remember wondering how come it couldn’t take real photos!

I grew up in Indonesia and later moved to the lone star state of Texas. Austin has been been my home for the past 7 years and I have two little ones to keep my life busy and ever evolving! I’m a stay at home mom who home schools my son. My passion is photography, art, music, travel and writting.

I also design year books and memory books for families and schools. As you can tell I don’t stand still too long. I blame this on my ADD which I still laugh about!

For those reading hope you become my biggest fan and more coming soon…
